FAQs

How do I know if my child needs therapy? Some signs your child might need occupational therapy:

  • Delays in developmental milestones
  • Difficulty with coordination, balance, strength, and motor planning
  • Handwriting and fine motor difficulties
  • Difficulty with visual motor tasks
  • Poor attention, very easily distracted
  • Needs more help than typical in self-help tasks
  • Responds negatively to sound, touch/textures, movement
  • Uncomfortable in multi-sensory environments, large or loud crowds
  • Dislikes school and/or social situations
  • Sensory processing problems

How do we get started?

If your child has three or more signs that he/she might need therapy, contact Progressive Pediatric Therapy of Texas to schedule an evaluation/consult appointment.  When therapy is recommended and implemented, a re-evaluation will occur every 10-12 months to monitor and measure progress and determine further need for therapy.
An initial occupational therapy evaluation may not be necessary if your child has had a comprehensive occupational therapy evaluation done within the past 2-3 months from another facility.  Waiving an initial evaluation would be on a case by case basis.

Do you consult with teachers and other professionals involved in my child’s development?

With your written consent we can work together with anyone you designate who is involved in your child’s development.

Is a physician’s order required for treatment?

Yes, while the therapy we provide is non-invasive, many insurance companies require a prescription and/or referral from the pediatrician.

Do you accept insurance?

Progressive Pediatric Therapy of Texas is in-network with Blue Cross Blue Shield of TX, United Healthcare, Medicaid (Traditional, Amerigroup, Superior, Molina), and Children's Medical Center Health Plan (CMCHP).

What are the rates for therapy?

In getting therapy started with us, an information packet will be provided to you and will include a fee schedule with current rates or you can contact the office for rate information.
